How to Block BBM Contact Updates in BlackBerry 10

BlackBerry Messenger is an integral part of the BlackBerry experience and that has stayed true in BB10. There are lots of enhancements to BBM, like BBM Video Chatting, and a beautiful new UI. Now on BBM 10 you have the ability to hide/block a contacts updates. As you come in contact with friend, relative, or any one known to you and you see that one of these contacts is constantly filling up the updates screen. Many a times we get irritated with their updates now and then and we want to block their such crazy updates. Now you can do this either by blocking such a specific contact or blocking their updates.
Here follow these simple steps and fix this from your end:

First find the updates from the contact you want to block. Press and hold on the update. An option titled ‘Hide Updates’ in the right-side options bar will pop out.

You will then be notified that the updates for the specific contact have been hidden.

The contacts you have blocked can be managed. When on the main section of BBM, swipe from the top down. This will allow you to click the Settings button.

After you’ve clicked Settings, scroll all of the way to the bottom. There you will see ‘Blocked Contacts’ option.

Here you can see every contact that you’ve blocked from showing updates. These can just as easily be deleted.

And suppose if you want to block the music update of a particular contact. In the same Settings screen as the Blocked Contacts, you’ll see an option to toggle on/off ‘Music Status Updates’.

Simple toggle that option to whatever you’d like. These will effectively block BBM contact updates according to your choice.
